Board Chair

Casey McBride

Laying the Foundation, Handing Over the Keys

Dear Shawnee Chamber Members,

Every project eventually reaches the walkthrough, where you look back at what was built, check the details, and hand it over to the next team. This is my final letter as your Board Chair, and it has been an honor to serve you in this monumental year for Shawnee, welcoming the World with the FIFA World Cup 2026™, further development and momentum in Downtown Shawnee, and plans for future development in the Midland Entertainment District and western Shawnee.  I couldn’t have asked for a better crew to serve alongside.

A Word on Leadership

A good handoff goes to someone who knows the work. I’m pleased to announce that Mike McVey of Transport Brewery will serve as your Board Chair for 2027. Mike has been a champion for Shawnee, and Transport Brewery has become a gathering place for our community. He knows this city, and he knows how to build relationships. Please give him the same support you’ve given me.

What's Ahead

While we look forward to what's ahead in 2027, I'd like to invite you to help celebrate the end of my tenure as Board Chair at the Shawnee Chamber's Annual Dinner - Velvet and Vice, proudly presented by A.L. Huber Construction. On Saturday, January 23rd, 2027, Shawnee's business community will come together to celebrate the previous year and enjoy a night of phenomenal food, casino fun, and community connections at the Overland Park Sheraton Hotel. Join me and sign up for a sponsorship or purchase individual tickets today: https://business.shawneekschamber.com/chamber-events/Details/annual-dinner-velvet-and-vice-1970330?sourceTypeId=Website

Still to come in 2026, we have the United States of Shawnee - All American Game Night next Friday, November 13th at the Shawnee Civic Centre, and honoring three different individuals/businesses at the Shawnee Business Awards Luncheon  on Thursday, November 19th at Lake Quivira Country Club. A.L. Huber Construction is a sponsor of both of these events, and I hope to see you there.

A Final Thank You

Every strong build depends on the people on site, and I’ve been fortunate to work with the best. Thank you to our Board of Directors for your time, candor, and commitment. Thank you to our Chamber staff, who make the work look easy when it never is. And thank you to our members and sponsors, whose support makes every event, program, and ribbon cutting possible.

Shawnee has a solid foundation and a lot of momentum. I can’t wait to see what 2027 brings. It’s been a privilege to serve as your Board Chair.

See you at the Annual Dinner.

Sincerely,

Casey McBride
