I have been a physical therapist for over 17 years. I have been in the traditional outpatient orthopedic realm for most of my career. In 2025 I switched into the cash-based PT world, opening up TrueFix Shawnee. With the change and transition of healthcare, I saw myself heading towards burnout, but it was more related to dealing with restrictions and rules imparted by insurance companies, so I explored the cash-based world.
Tell us about your business.
TrueFix Physical Therapy was founded in February of 2025 and opened to treat patients in March of 2025.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of running your business in Shawnee?
I live in Shawnee with my husband and 2 daughters. It is so wonderful to be part of the community that my family is a part of. Our girls go to school here and have established our lives. It is wonderful to be able to offer help for those that we have surrounded ourselves with, not far from where we all call home.
How do you see the future of your business within Shawnee, and are there any local trends or changes that excite you?
There is so much growth happening throughout Shawnee, it is exciting to be a part of it.
How has being part of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce influenced or supported your business?
It has connected me with other small businesses in the area. I actually joined based on encouragement of another member and have made connections that way.
If you could share one piece of advice with a new Chamber member or a new business in Shawnee, what would it be?
Don't be afraid to step into the community.
