Maureen Kronawitter Heart of the Community

Congratulations to our Heart of the Community award winner - Maureen Kronawitter!

We presented Maureen with the Heart of the Community award at our Annual Dinner on Saturday, January 24th, 2026.

Maureen has long been a supporter of all things Shawnee. Born and raised in the Shawnee area, she has exemplified the concept of togetherness and community. Whether working in her capacity as volunteer coordinator for Shawnee Town 1929 to being the primary driver of the annual Shawnee St. Patrick’s Day Parade, she has proven her dedication to the community. Maureen works closely with the Shawnee Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Shawnee, KS Government to coordinate public safety the day of the parade as well as the execution of the annual parade. She is instrumental in getting local leaders as judges and emcee. She also works closely with parade sponsors to ensure their participation in the event. Under her leadership, the Irish American Club of Johnson County has expanded its role in the Shawnee Community, and the Club now supports many worthwhile charitable endeavors and other activities in Shawnee.

Maureen is currently the Treasurer for the Friends of Shawnee Town, a volunteer board of trustees that help oversee and manage Shawnee Town 1929 Museum in Shawnee, KS She also finds time to serve on several other boards, including the Shawnee Sisters Cities Committee which assists and facilitates the City of Shawnee’s relationship with its three sister cities around the world—Listowel, Ireland, Pittem, Belgium and Erfurter, Germany.

Maureen also serves on the board of the Shawnee Mission North High School Booster Club; the latest in a long line of school-centric volunteering that includes several stints as a PTA Co-President, band booster club officer, and numerous other roles.
