Small Business Saturday is November 28
In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help businesses with their most pressing need – meeting more customers. The day encourages people to shop small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The single day has grown into a powerful movement and more people are taking part than ever before.
The Shawnee Chamber is proud to champion Small Business Saturday for Shawnee again this year on November 28. “The event turned out to be a success last year and we anticipate growing participation and publicity from local media this year,” said Shawnee Chamber of Commerce President Linda Leeper.
If you are a small business interested in participating, please contact the chamber office at 913.631.6545 or email Marlene Shirley firstname.lastname@example.org or Elli Bowen email@example.com. Deadline to participate and receive promotional materials from the chamber is October 23. American Express does have specific criteria participating small businesses must meet in order to participate – please see below:
Small Business Criteria: Small businesses that you identify as participating in your Plan must be (i) brick and mortar retail small businesses with no more than twenty five (25) retail locations within the Program Territory, (ii) not be franchisees or licensees of a brand with more than 25 corporate-owned stores, or more than 100 stores in total, and (iii) not be businesses that are primarily in the business of selling drugs or other pharmaceuticals, pornography, sexual aids, gambling, liquor, tobacco, firearms or other weapons.
Please contact the chamber with questions. We look forward to making 2015’s event a success.
