USD 232 School District
Each school day, the district welcomes more than 7,400 students through the doors of its 12 campuses with seven elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools. USD 232 encompasses an area of nearly 100 square miles in northwest Johnson County and draws from the communities of De Soto, Shawnee, Lenexa, a portion of Olathe, and unincorporated areas of the county.
Students in Unified School District No. 232, continue to score above state and national peers on ACT College Readiness Exams and USD 232 leads Johnson County, KS in graduation rates.

Offering nearly 100 degree and certificate programs and serving over 18,000 students, it is our county's leading higher education institution.
In 2019, JCCC opened the The Hugh L. Libby Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) which now offers 69,000 square feet of classroom and learning areas including 14 labs. The new CTEC will provde today’s businesses with a trained workforce in a variety of skillsets, including:
- Automation Engineer Technology
- Automotive Technology
- Electrical Technology
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology
- Plumbing Certificate
In addition the the CTEC, the College also offers a robust Continuing Education program where non-degree seeking students can earn a variety of certificates in specific industry skills and even take classes for personal enrichment. Classes within the CE department range from computer and technical skills to creative enhancement like photography and culinary arts! The Shawnee Economic Development Council Career Ready Scholarship provides financial assistance in the amount of $1000 to graduating Shawnee high school seniors seeking a career in construction or construction trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or other related professions. A successful applicant must identify either trade school where they will continue their education or acceptance of direct employment by a licensed Kansas City metro area contractor (preference given to SEDC members). Financial award must be used to cover costs related to tuition, books, fees, tools and/or equipment related to the construction industry. Awardees utilizing scholarship funds to prepare for careers in construction will be paired with a SEDC Scholar mentor who will assist with selection of tools and supplies required to be work ready on first day of employment.
