Annual Dinner 2009

"Good Fortune Starts Here," in Shawnee.

The Shawnee Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner 2009 is around the corner; save the date of Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010. More than 500 guests will enjoy an evening of fine dining and dancing at the Sheraton Hotel in Overland Park, Kan. Both a silent and live auction will spice up the night with an on-going, bid battle.

The premiere event will celebrate the many successes of the 2009 Chairman of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors John Miller, Lake Quivira Country Club, and will welcome the 2010 Chairman of the Board.

Annual Dinner Chair Lori Barngrover, LA Graphics, alongside Co Chairs Chris Gorup, Shawnee Mission Ford, and Jody Adams, JRA Baskets, will work together with the event's committee of dedicated volunteers to make sure the evening, Good Fortune Starts Here, is one to remember.

If your business is interested in donating an auction item to either the silent or live auction, please contact the Chamber office, 913.631.6545. To purchase group or individual tickets, contact Mary Taylor, Vice President of Programs and Events, either at the Chamber or by email, mtaylor@shawneekschamber.com.

The Chamber's Board of Directors elected its officers for 2010.

We are very fortunate to have individuals in our business community, educational and governmental sector who have agreed to give their professional time and support to serve in a leadership role on the 2010 Shawnee Chamber Board of Directors. On behalf of the Board, Chairman Miller and I are very pleased to present the 2010 Officers:

  • Chairman of the Board Tim Harmon, Harmon Construction, Inc.
  • First Vice Chair Jack Wagner, Shawnee Mission Medical Center
  • Treasurer Steve Hale, Brotherhood Bank and Trust
  • Past Chairman John Miller, Lake Quivira Country Club

Special thanks...

As the year 2009 comes to a close, I want to personally thank all of our Chamber members for your continued investment through what we all know was a challenging year. We hope we have been there to provide support for you and our Shawnee community, as we look forward to a brighter year in 2010. I look forward to seeing you all at the Annual Dinner, Good Fortune Starts Here, Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010.

I want to give a special thank you to our Chairman of the Board, John Miller, for his leadership role this year. As General Manager of Quivira Lake Country Club, John has many demands on his time, but he devoted many hours throughout the year to attend all of the Chamber's programs and events. John provided great leadership to our organization during the year and will continue to provide leadership on the Executive Committee as we move forward.

Finally, I want to thank Kevin Fern, Amy Graves, Megan Hardwick, Jim Martin, Mary Taylor and our newest staff, Stacey Dickson and Libby Connell, who work very hard every day supporting the members, programs and events of the Chamber organization.

From all of the Chamber, Economic Development and Visitors Bureau staff, we wish you the best in this Holiday Season and a great New Year!
Please plan to attend the Membership Luncheon Wednesday, December 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shawnee Town Hall, 11600 Johnson Drive, in recognition of the Chamber's 2009 volunteers. The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon will be a time to recognize, honor and thank the several, dedicated volunteers the Chamber has been so thankful to have throughout the year, and every year. Committee chairs will be recognized for their contributions in 2009.

Please RSVP for this event to the Chamber office, 913.631.6545, or email rsvp@shawneekschamber.com, by Friday, December 4.
