Shawnee Chamber of Commerce, Bob Regnier, Bank of Blue Valley, host CEO Roundtable
The Shawnee Chamber of Commerce has teamed with Bob Regnier, president of Bank of Blue Valley, to provide a CEO Roundtable for top chief executive officers in and around Shawnee. The panel met Tuesday, June 29, at the Hereford House in Shawnee. The panel participated in an open discussion on the turbulent economy and the effects and tactics businesses have.
Regnier kicked off the panel discussion by sharing an article on the cover of the New York Times that read, “The End of Community Banking.” Regnier disagreed with the article and opened up discussion on the importance of building relationships at your business as well as the importance of integrity. The panel also covered a variety of other topics including the business climate; change in health care for employees; the education system; changing in marketing strategies for businesses; strong values that should be placed in the business world; new loaning and cash flow requirements; and more.
Regnier said it was important to have the CEO Roundtable because, “It gets local business leaders together to discuss important current issues, it builds connections between people in our community and it provides an introduction to people who are not acquainted within our community."
Regnier moderated the panel. Other, invited CEOs in attendance were 2010 Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber Tim Harmon, Harmon Construction, Inc.; Todd Fitzpatrick, Bank of Blue Valley; Chris Hansen, KU MedWest; Dick Shull, Shawnee Mission Ford; Tom Zarda, Zarda/Rieke Development Corporation; Dr. Gene Johnson, Shawnee Mission School District; Brian Brown, Sharon Lane Nursing Home; Ernie Straub III, Straub Construction Co., Inc.; and President | CEO Linda Leeper, Shawnee Chamber of Commerce.
