Shawnee is receiving national and local attention for what we all already knew: it's a great city to live and work in!

The July 2008 issue of Ingram's Kansas City's Business Magazine recently recognized the 100 fastest growing companies in Kansas City. The companies on the list are recognized because they showed remarkable growth over a four-year period. Of those 100, three are headquartered right here in Shawnee.

"Now is the BEST time to be a member of the Shawnee Chamber!" We all know the current state of our economy is making an impact on each of us in our jobs, in the businesses we work for, in the businesses we own and with our personal family life activities. As the largest business organization in the community we can help. Many of us know how important a resource the Shawnee Chamber is for business and the community but sometimes when we are so close to the situation we do not realize we all really need to talk more about the resources the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce has to offer.

Well, we are sitting at the peak of the summer travel season and in these challenging times for many families; it is great to be a part of a community where one can find some simple fun right here at home. The CVB is busy promoting the community at a variety of events, one of which is the Summer Concert Series which is quite a good show put on by the Shawnee Parks & Rec Department.

Spread the word with Member-Serve! Our new Member-Serve direct mail program provides members of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce an exceptional new marketing opportunity. Up to 15 members each quarter can now distribute their coupons, service information and promotional flyers to our 1400 chamber member representatives. The cost of this service is $190 for a one-page document * (includes postage). Just furnish us with 1400 copies and we'll do the rest.

The 2008 Shawnee Business Expo is coming Thursday, October 23, 2008.

TRC (Total Resource Campaign) is the annual sponsorship campaign for the chamber and takes place throughout the month of September. Over 30 volunteers will be securing sponsorships and form great business relationships. This year's TRC theme is "Red Hot Results...Shawnee Chamber is Hot, Hot, Hot!!!!
