Ambassador of the Year
An outstanding individual within the Ambassador Committee was honored each year through 2007. Beginning in 2007, the award expanded beyond individuals serving on the Ambassador Committee to include all outstanding Chamber Volunteers and is called the Chamber Star Award.
Chamber Star Award
The Chamber Star Award is given by the Ambassador Committee to recognize an individual Chamber volunteer that shines with extraordinary measures of service and commitment. The first annual award was presented in 2007.
Citizen of the Year
Annual nominations for this award are submitted from the Chamber membership and voted on by a representation of the past award winners. The individual need not be a Chamber member, but should be someone who has worked hard to make Shawnee a better place to live, work and grow.
Chamber Hall of Fame
The Chamber Hall of Fame Award was established in 2002. As part of the Business Appreciation Awards, this special recognition is given to the businesses that have played a big role in shaping the face of our community and who have made tremendous contributions to the city over long periods of time to make Shawnee what it is today.
Distinguished Corporate Citizen Award
The Distinguished Corporate Citizen Award is presented to the businesses who, through their efforts, have gained favorable publicity for Shawnee during the last 12 months.
Shawnee Tomorrow Civic Leadership Award
Given by the leaders of the Shawnee Tomorrow program in honor of former Chamber Executive Joe Mayo, the award honors an individual from the community who has shown exceptional leadership qualities to accomplish a community goal or objective in the past year.
Honorary Chamber Members
Honorary membership in the Shawnee Chamber is conferred by the Board of Directors for distinction in public affairs or previous service as President/Chairman of the Board and currently retired or no longer employed full time by a Chamber business member.

Betty Charlton Scholarship
What began by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Shawnee Chamber in 1997 as a tribute to Better Charlton has grown to over $40,000. Betty served as the Chamber Assistant for five years and while not a high-ranking player in local affairs, she was a popular figure in the city, chamber and church circles, and was often referred to as the "Mother of Shawnee."
The Scholarship Fund now awards one or two $1,500 scholarships each spring to students who have demonstrated an involvement in community leadership. Each and every year a portion of the proceeds from the Chamber Annual Dinner auction directly benefits the Betty Charlton Scholarship fund and continues to support future community leadership. Scholarships totaling $19,000 have been awarded to area high school seniors over the last 12 years.
